Heritage Food + Drink sits on the location of the former Greenbaum & Gilhooleys.
Heritage Food + Drink had a hard act to follow when it opened on US Route 9 in the Town of Wappingers Falls. It served diners on the former site of the popular Greenbaum & Gilhooleys. Hertiage quickly gained its own following and great reputation with a restaurant that seats 250, a bar, outdoor dining and a second-floor event space with a private dining room.
The concept was to maintain a significant amount of the original building while creating additions that would elevate the appearance of the building into the 21st century. To preserve the memory of the original structure, new walls were selectively built in the same locations as the former walls.
TA and Hudson Valley Hospitality joined together in developing the new 6,313.5-square-foot restaurant in the existing structure. The first floor, with 5,044 square feet, consists of the dining rooms with views into the kitchen and a bar in a vaulted 20-foot space within a tower element anchoring the northeast corner of the building. The southeast corner contains the entry to the restaurant, and also features a tower element anchoring the corner. Within the two-story entry space, a ‘grand’ stair rises to the second floor. The second-floor space of 1,269 square feet partially overlooks the bar from the event space.
